The Tampa Bay Buccaneers haven’t been as dominant as some thought they’d be this season, but they’re rising to the occasion when it matters most.
Notably, that was made even more evident in their Week 2 win against the Houston Texans.
The Bucs became one of two teams in NFL history to start a season 2-0 despite trailing in both games with one minute left in the fourth quarter, joining the 1979 Cleveland Browns.

The Bucs escaped with a win against the Atlanta Falcons in Week 1 thanks to a late touchdown and a missed field goal, and they scored a last-second touchdown in Week 2 after the Texans took the lead.
Tampa Bay’s offensive line continues to be a bit of a concern, primarily because of injuries, and that will be something to keep an eye on going forward.
Its defensive line did a better job stopping the run in Week 2 after struggling to contain Bijan Robinson in the opener, and the secondary has held its ground for the most part.
Yet, as well as quarterback Baker Mayfield has played, the Bucs can’t keep banking on late-game heroics to win every week.
They should have an easier time in Week 3 when they host the New York Jets, especially if Jets QB Justin Fields has to miss the game after suffering a concussion in their Week 2 loss to the Buffalo Bills.
